Filmed on 06/22/07 - Indianapolis, Indiana - Abdi discusses where the United State ranks in the world for distance running and the resurgence of the sport in the states.� � Abdi Abdirahman is one of the most charismatic runners in the country, he also happens to be one of the most talented and fastest athletes in the U.S. He is a three-time USATF champion in the 10k, two-time Olympian in that event as well, and also boosts a marathon personal best of 2:08:56. Abdi started out at Pima Community College in Tucson by showing up to practice in boots to try out for the team. He earned a scholarship to the University of Arizona where he had a stellar career highlighted by a runner-up finish at the 1998 NCAA Cross-Country Championships. Abdi now trades time between Tucson and Flagstaff training full-time. Interview by Kevin Ullman |
